Entry Requirements

The Ghana Armed Forces is an equal opportunity employer. There are no authorized middlemen and the advertised vacancies are not for sale. Eligible applicants should:
  1. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
  2. Be of good character.
  3. Not be bonded.
  4. Not be married.
  5. Not be less than 18 years and not more than 26 years by 31 March 2025.
  6. Be medically fit by Ghana Armed Forces standard.
  7. Must pass the Pre Joining Fitness Test.
  8. Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6”) for males and 1.60m (5’4”) for females. For Military Police only; the minimum height for male applicants should be 1.75m (5’9”) and 1.70m (5’ 7”) for females.
  9. Must have the following:
    1. BECE. Six (6) Passes at BECE including English and Mathematics.
    2. WASSCE. Six (6) Credits (not less than C6 ) including Core English, Core Mathematics. and Science.
    3. OR
    4. SSSCE. Six (6) Credits (not less than D ) including Core English and Core Mathematics.
    5. OR
    6. GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ Levels. Five (5) Credits (not less than 6) including English and Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Level and not less than D in three subjects and General Paper at GCE ‘A’ Level.

  1. Infantry/Armour/Artillery. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University.

    4. MSc/MBA in Project Management with First Degree in any Building Environment Discipline.
    5. Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years working experience in the relevant field of application and must be a registered member of GHIE or requisite Professional Body, in good standing and with a practicing License and Certificate from the regulating Professional Body. Preference will be given to candidates with Masters.
  3. Engineering Branch (Air Force Only).
    1. Mechanical.
      1. Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Agric Engineering or a related field.
      2. Two years expereience in the industry
    2. Avionics. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Masters Degree in any of the following:
      1. Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
      2. Telecommunication/Computer Engineering or a related field.
      3. Two years experience in the industry.
    3. Armament. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Masters Degree in any of the following:
      1. Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
      2. Mission Equipment or a related field.
      3. Two years experience in the industry.
    4. Supply Branch (Air Force Only). In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Masters Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:
      1. Accounting.
      2. Finance.

    5. LEGAL. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 35 years by 15 February 2025. Must have a First Degree from a recognized University or equivalent Professional Institution in any of the following:
      1. Bachelor of Law, LLB.
      2. Called to the Bar and must have completed Pupillage.
      3. Must have one (1) year work experience.
    6. MEDICAL. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must:
      1. Not be more than 40 years of age by 15 February 2025 for Medical and Dental Specialists.
      2. Not be more than 35 years of age by 15 February 2025 for Medical Officers, Dental Surgeons and Optometrists.
      3. Not more than 33 years of age by 15 February 2025 for Specialized Nurses, Midwifery Officers, Pharmacists (PharmD) and Certified Registered Anaesthetists.
      4. Not more than 30 years of age by 15 February 2025 for Nursing Officers, Clinical and Social Psychologists, Radiographers, Sonographers, Respiratory Therapists, Physician Assistants, Public Health Officers, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians, Biomedical Scientists, Insurance (NHIS) Officers and Health Services Administrators (Masters/Bachelors degree).
    7. SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS. Applicants must possess the following specific entry qualification requirements:
      1. Medical and Dental Specialists. Applicants must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from an accredited institution plus a relevant post-graduate qualification to the level of Membership/Fellowship or its equivalent from an accredited College. Applicants must have a permanent registration with the Medical and Dental Council (Ghana) and be in good standing.
      2. Medical Officers and Dental Surgeons. Applicants must have an/a MB ChB/BDS degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution. Applicants must also have a permanent registration with the Medical and Dental Council (Ghana) and in good standing with at least one (1) year post-permanent registration work experience would have an added advantage.
      3. Optometrists. Applicants must have a Doctor of Optometry degree plus at least one (1) year work experience post-permanent registration as an optometrist. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
      4. Physician Assistants (Medical). Applicants must have a BSc degree in Physician Assistantship from an accredited institution plus at least one (1) year working experience in an accredited health facility. Applicants must have permanent registration with the Medical and Dental Council (Ghana) and be in good standing.
      5. Dieticians. Applicants must have a BSc degree plus at least one (1) year working experience in an accredited health facility and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
      6. Biomedical Scientists. Applicants must have a Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science (DMLS) degree plus at least one (1) year working experience as a Biomedical Scientist in a Medical Laoratory facility. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
      7. Insurance (NHIS) Officers. Applicants must have a Bachelors degree in Acturial Science or Insurance plus at least one (1) year post-national service working experience as an Insurance Officer. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
      8. Pharmacists. Applicants must have either a:
        1. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution and should have practised for at least one (1) year post-permanent registration as a Pharmacist.
        2. All must be in good standing with the Pharmacy Council, Ghana.
      9. Specialized/Specialist Nurses. Applicants must have a BSc degree/Membership in any of the following specialties: Critical Care, ENT, Peri-Operative, Emergency Care, Plastics & Burns, Paediatrics, Ophthalmic Nursing, Nephrology Nursing and other specialties with at least one (1) year working experience post-permanent registration in a recognized health facility. Applicants must be in good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
      10. Midwifery Officers. Applicants must have either a:
        1. BSc degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution with at least two (2) years practice post-permanent registration or
        2. BSc degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution and a Diploma in Midwifery (RM) with at least one (1) year practice post-permanent registration.
        3. All must be in good standing with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
      11. Nursing Officers. Applicants must have either a:
        1. BSc degree in Nursing from an accredited institution with at least two (2) years practice post-permanent registration or
        2. BSc degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and a Diploma in Nursing (RGN) with at least one (1) year practice post-permanent registration.
        3. All must be in good standing with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
      12. Health Services Administrators. Applicants must have a BSc/Master’s degree in Administration (Health Services option) from an accredited institution and must have completed the mandatory national service. Applicants should also have at least one (1) year work experience post-national service as a Health Services Administrator and be a registered member in good standing with the Association of Health Services Administrators, Ghana (AHSAG).
      13. Clinical and Social Psychologists. Applicants must have an MPhil/MSc Clinical or Social Psychology degree from an accredited institution plus one (1) year work experience in a recognized institution as a Clinical Psychologist post-permanent registration with the Ghana Psychological Council and be in good standing.
      14. Radiographers. Applicants must have a BSc degree in Radiography and should have practised for at least one (1) year post-permanent registration as a Radiographer. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
      15. Occupational Therapists. Applicants must have a BSc degree in Occupational Therapy and should have practised for at least one (1) year post-permanent registration as an Occupational Therapist. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
      16. Sonographers. Applicants must have a BSc degree in Sonography plus at least one (1) year work experience post-permanent registration as a Sonographer. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
      17. Respiratory Therapists. Applicants must have a BSc degree in Respiratory Therapy plus at least one (1) year work experience post-permanent registration in a recognized health facility. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
      18. Biomedical Scientists. Applicants must have a BSc degree in Medical Laboratory Science/BSc Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution plus at least one (1) year work experience as a Biomedical Scientist in a Medical Laboratory facility. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
      19. Certified Registered Anaesthetists (CRA). Applicants must have either a:
        1. BSc degree in Anesthesia from an accredited institution with at least two (2) years work experience post-permanent registration or
        2. BSc degree in Anaesthesia with Advanced Diploma in Nurse Anaesthesia with at least one (1) year work experience post-permanent registration.
        3. All must be in good standing with the appropriate Regulatory body.
      20. Public Health Officer (Environmental). Applicants must have either a:
        1. BSc Public Health (Environmental Health) from an accredited institution with at least one (1) year work experience post-permanent registration or
        2. BSc Public Health (Environmental Health) plus the West African Health Examination Board Diploma with at least two (2) years work experience post-permanent registration.
        3. All must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
    8. CHAPLAIN In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 35 years of age by 15 February 2025 and have the following:
      1. First Degree not below Second Class Lower in Theology or Religion (BA) from a recognised University/Theological Seminary/College..
      2. An ordained Minister of the Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Evangelical Presbyterian, SDA and the Church of Pentecost and be recommended for commissioning into the Ghana Armed Forces by the Head of the Church. .
      3. A minimum of four (4) years pastoral working and probation/internship experience including two (2) years post ordination service in the pastoral field. .
      4. Ability to speak English and at least one of the main Ghanaian languages fluently..
    9. IMAM In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 35 years of age by 15 February 2025 and have the following:
      1. First Degree not below Second Class Lower in Islamic Theology (Religion) from a recognized University, Islamic Institution or College.
      2. An Alim Phedeen (Islamic Theologian).
      3. Fluent in both spoken Arabic and English Languages.
      4. Ability to read and write good Arabic and English Languages.
      5. Practised as Imam for four (4) years and be recognized by a recognised Islamic Religious Institution/Body in Ghana.
      6. Recommended for commission into the Ghana Armed Forces by the Head of a recognized Islamic body in Ghana.
How To Apply

Application Guideline

STEP 1

All applicants are required to carefully read through the entry requirements for better understanding before applying. Take note of all required data in the subsequent steps.

STEP 2

Click on Apply Now and fill in your scratch card serial and pincode details. Select your Arm of Service and highest educational level then click on the SUBMIT button.

STEP 3

You are to select your preferred branch and enter your Bio Data details, Educational details as well as upload a passport sized picture of dimension (200x180) pixels before submitting.

STEP 4

Finally Print out a copy of the application summary report which contains details of your Application Identification Number and other relevant data.

  1. Acquire an Electronic Voucher at THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY GHANA CEDIS (GH₵350.00) from the following designated Post Offices:
    Greater Accra Region. Burma Camp, Accra North, GPO, Cantonments, Dansoman, Legon, Madina, TUC, Kaneshie, Ministries, Mamprobi, New Achimota, Tema Community 1,Tema Community 11.
    Central Region. Cape Coast, Agona Swedru, Saltpond, Dunkwa-On-Offin, Winneba, Elmina, Apam.
    Upper West Region. Wa, Lawra, Tumu.
    Upper East Region. Bawku, Navrongo, Bolgatanga.
    Ashanti Region. Kumasi Main, KNUST, Ashanti-Mampong, Bekwai-Ashanti, Konongo, Obuasi, Offinso, Ejura, Juaso, Akrokerri, Ejisu, Agogo.
    Eastern Region. Koforidua, Nkawkaw, Mpraeso, Suhum, Akim Oda, Aburi, Asamankese, Akropong-Akuapem, Somanya, Akosombo, Nsawam.
    Volta Region. Ho, Anloga, Keta, Hohoe, Kpando, Denu, Peki, Sogakope.

  2. Scratch gently to reveal the “PIN” code. The scratch card can be used three times until a record is successfully submitted.
  3. Log on to the recruitment portal @ https://apply.mil.gh with any of the following browsers:
    1. Mozilla Firefox.
    2. Google Chrome.
  4. Read through the entry requirements thoroughly.
  5. Click on the Apply Now Tab to open the applicant authentication page.
  6. Enter your card Serial Number, PIN code and select your preferred Arm of Service, type of commission and click “Submit”.
  7. Enter your personal details and take note of the following from pages 1 to 3:
    1. Page 1: Select your desired vacancy and provide all other required data.
    2. Page 2: Upload a scanned copy of your passport-sized photograph of dimension ( 200 x 180 pixels ), enter a valid e-mail address, personal mobile phone number in the format ( 233244123456 ) and enter any other required data.
    3. Page 3: Enter the results of only the three required core subjects on your WASSCE/SSCE results slip, that is; CORE MATHEMATICS, CORE ENGLISH AND CORE SCIENCE. Enter your WASSCE or SSSCE Index number, WASSCE or SSSCE results slip Serial Number and select a Tertiary Institution from the list of schools. Upload only scanned copies of the following; WASSCE or SSSCE Results Slip and First Degree/Certificate (Degree). NB: Each scanned document (Passport picture, WASSCE or SSSCE Results Slip, First Degree/Certificate) to be uploaded, should not exceed 1 (One) Megabyte and should be in JPEG picture format only.
  8. Click on the Preview button to see a summary page of all data provided. Read through this page carefully and click on the back button, if there are any modifications to be made.
  9. Click on the submit button and expect an instant e-mail and text message, which includes your unique system generated Identification Number.
  10. Print and keep a copy of the generated report as you will be required to present it, if you are shortlisted. However, if you lose your copy of the final report, go back to the recruitment portal, click on the Check Details Tab, enter your unique identification number sent to you by SMS/E-mail and order a re-print.
  11. NB. YOU ARE TO KEEP THE USED ELECTRONIC VOUCHER AS IT WILL BE INSPECTED AT EVERY STAGE OF THE SELECTION PROCESS.
